Supervision
Are You Working Toward Becoming an LISW, Interested in Becoming a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), a School Based-Registered Play Therapist (SB-RPT), or Certification in EMDR?
LMSW Supervision
Kim offers supervision for LMSW’s in Iowa working towards independent licensure. Supervision must be at least 110 hours over a course of two to six years.
Kim also offers play therapy supervision. Play therapy supervision is to be completed while you are accruing direct client hours utilizing play therapy.
RPT Credentials
APT requires 35 hours of supervision by an RPT-S for the RPT credential. Of those 35, a maximum of 15 hours of group supervision is allowed with the remaining 20 hours to be completed in individual supervision.
SB-RPT Credentials
APT requires 50 hours of supervision from an RPT-S for the SB-RPT credential. A maximum of 25 of those hours can be completed in group supervision with the remaining 25 hours to be completed in individual supervision.
EMDRIA Certification Requirements
To be an EMDRIA Certified Therapist, you must complete an additional 20 hours of consultation (beyond your 10 hours of basic training).
A maximum of 10 of these 20 hours can be completed through group consultation.
In consultation, the focus is to ensure you understand the steps of EMDR while strengthening your skills in resourcing, treatment planning, and case conceptualization under AIP Theory.
Adlerian Play Therapy Consultation
Kim is an Advanced Certified Adlerian Play Therapist, now offering consultation towards certification in Adlerian Play Therapy. Please visit https://adlerianplaytherapy.com/ to find out more about this certification.
Our Adlerian consultation group provides a welcoming, informal, and nonevaluative setting designed to offer valuable guidance on difficult cases, tough ethical dilemmas, impact of your work on your health and state of mind. The purpose of these consultation group sessions would be to ensure that you have begun to master Adlerian play therapy and parent/teacher consultation skills and strategies and can demonstrate expertise in using Adlerian play therapy conceptualizing and treatment planning tools.
According to the Association for Play Therapy “consultation” differs from supervision in that in consultation the consultant and the consultee both hold individual clinical mental health licenses issued by their respective state licensing boards that permit for independent practice. In consultation, the consultant shares expert advice specific to play therapy to the existing competent care being provided by the consultee. This type of consultation can meet APT Credentialing requirements for supervision. According to the APT (Association of Play Therapy) credentialing requirements, an individual is allowed up to 10 hours of group consultation to apply for RPT (Registered Play Therapist) status.
These hours do not count towards Adlerian Play Therapy certification.
